Queens Square has been commended at the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation Awards for ‘creating better places’.

The £3.2m regeneration project was the only scheme from outside of London on the shortlist.

The awards celebrate the highways and transportation industry, rewarding the outstanding accomplishments of those within the sector and promoting their expertise as best practise to a wider audience.

The ambitious renovation of Queens Square has uplifted Crawley town centre into a decorative and appealing feature for its local community. Clever landscaping surrounds the levelled water fountain at the heart of the layout, creating a framed focal point which emphasises a feeling of tranquillity for the pedestrians passing through. Feature lighting and discreetly concealed power units within the paving allows for public events to be hosted throughout the evenings, as well as increasing security across the site.
