What’s been happening?

Work installing new paving along Kingsgate is progressing on time. The Pavement has now been opened and only small snagging issues are left to be completed. Traffic control measures are still in place (traffic lights) while works are underway to create the table top crossing outside TK Maxx.

What’s next?

Work to install new paving along Parkside will begin in September. Evening road closures along Kingsgate will take place on 24 and 25 September to allow the installation of a new lighting column to take place. Alongside this, the following tree maintenance will take place:

• Oak (opposite Argos) – removal of three branches overhanging on the carriageway

• Lime (opposite Sainsbury’s) – removal of one branch overhanging the carriageway

These works are to protect the trees which are currently damaged by delivery trucks and to provide additional lighting onto the carriageways and pathways.

Road works have begun on the S bend along Parkside to create a new crossover with drainage infrastructure. The entrance to Memorial Gardens will be restricted, with the road diverted across the current pedestrian path. Fencing, signage and traffic lights will be in place to ensure safe access is possible and cars will still be able to access the Parkside NCP car park. It is anticipated that the works will take two weeks to complete and once this is done, a new Memorial Gardens entrance will be created, with access restrictions kept to a minimum.
