Have your say on the next stage of town centre regeneration

Proposals to extend Queens Square regeneration work along Queensway, The Pavement and Kingsgate are available to view and Crawley Borough Council wants to know what you think.

The council and its partners are hoping to continue the high-quality improvements underway in Queens Square along these main connector streets. And, although the design should remain cohesive with the square, the council is keen to hear views on various elements of the project.

Major town centre redevelopment moves a step closer

Plans for 250 homes, a new Town Hall and offices in the town centre are set to move a step closer in February.

The proposed major redevelopment at the eastern end of The Boulevard would see the current Town Hall and two-storey car park demolished.

In their place would be around 250 homes in three blocks, a new Town Hall over four floors with five floors of grade A commercial offices above, a public square, public realm improvements, commercial units and the infrastructure for a district heating network.

First district deal in West Sussex aims to drive economic growth

Two West Sussex councils have signed an agreement to work together on delivering key strategic projects.

West Sussex County Council and Crawley Borough Council have signed a new district deal to increase joint collaborative working between the two councils.

The Crawley Growth Deal identifies a number of key projects which feature in the Crawley Place Plan, which was endorsed by both authorities earlier in the year.

What’s been happening?

All the granite needed to pave the North and South alleyways has been delivered and work to lay it began on 5 December.

The granite is currently being laid in the southern alleyway and contractors, Blakedown Landscapes Ltd, are working their way through the southern alleyway towards Queens Square.

Small Business Grant Scheme

Crawley Borough Council has received funding from West Sussex Pooled Business Rates for a Small Business Grant Scheme.

Small businesses with fewer than 50 employees who operate in the Crawley area will be able to apply for business support grants up to £2,000 and apprenticeship grants up to £1,500. 

All Small Business Support Grants projects must be match funded 50 per cent by the small business.

Three cheers for Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday 2016 is being celebrated with a hat-trick of initiatives.

Crawley Borough Council is marking the event, on 3 December, with the launch of our Small Business Grants Scheme, offer of help from Business Navigators and a competition for residents.

Small Business Saturday is a national initiative that delivers help, advice and opportunities to connect small businesses. The council has been allocated funding for a Small Business Grants Scheme to fund micro and small businesses.
