Further Article 4 Direction at Manor Royal

On 16 October 2017, Crawley Borough Council confirmed the making a further Article 4 Direction at Manor Royal.

The confirmed Direction removes a temporary permitted development right that would otherwise allow the change of use of buildings from light industrial (B1c) to residential use (C3) without the requirement to obtain planning permission.

The Direction has been confirmed following a 12 month notification period and consideration of feedback submitted to the council during a three-month consultation period.

Helping unlock £60m investment in Crawley

Crawley Borough Council has helped to unlock £60.4m investment in infrastructure and regeneration to support new homes, jobs and business space.

The council’s Cabinet agreed to allocate £2.8m towards the Crawley Growth Programme at its meeting on Wednesday (4 October), following Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership’s award of £14.64m to the programme.

Regeneration of Queens Square completed

The regeneration of Queens Square has been completed – on time and on budget.

The fencing has been taken down today (3 October) so visitors to the town centre can now take advantage of the much-improved public square. The improvements, which took 12 months to complete, has encouraged new businesses to open in the square and for existing retailers and property owners to improve the appearance of their buildings. The new square includes high quality paving, new and improved lighting, new seating, new street furniture, new planting and a fountain.

Queens Square re-opening party

Queens Square will reopen shortly – and we’re having a party to celebrate!

Everyone’s welcome to join in the fun from 12 noon on Saturday 7 October.

This family-friendly celebratory event will include professional singing, dancing, music from a concert band, street performers, face painting, balloon art and much more.

Metrobus will be bringing its special 70th birthday bus along, Queens Square shops will be getting involved and we’ll be switching on the fountains for the first time since work is completed too!

Queens Square update – 24 August 2017

A date has been set for the official opening of Queens Square!

The opening party, which also celebrates Crawley’s 70th birthday, will take place on Saturday 7 October from 12 noon and features music and entertainment for all ages. The civic opening ceremony will take place at 12.15pm.

This week a planning application has been received to bring a covered ice rink to Queens Square this winter. The ice rink, with real ice, is expected to open from mid-November until early January and it’s hoped this will attract many additional visitors over the Christmas and New Year period.

Public drop-in to explain major junction improvements in Three Bridges

West Sussex Highways is preparing to upgrade seven junctions along Haslett Avenue in Three Bridges.

Residents and businesses are invited to come along to a public drop-in session at Pound Hill Community Centre, Worth Road, Pound Hill, on Thursday August 31 from 6pm to 9pm.

Engineers will be there to talk about the plans and answer any questions people may have about the scheme.

Strong support for Town Hall site redevelopment

Residents have given their backing to proposals for major redevelopment at the eastern end of The Boulevard in the town centre.

The proposals will see the current Town Hall replaced with a new Town Hall with grade A commercial offices, a new public square and public realm improvements. The neighbouring two-storey car park will be demolished.

The proposals also include around 275 homes in two blocks and the infrastructure for a district heating network. The Town Hall multi-storey car park will remain and will be upgraded under these proposals.
