Queens Square tree to be replaced

One of Queens Square’s Ginkgo Biloba trees is to be replaced after it was vandalised last week. The tree, currently situated outside Poundland was found to have its bark stripped, significantly damaging its health.

Council officers investigated to establish whether the tree could be saved, however it became clear that it would not recover and the decision was made to replace it. The new tree will be planted in autumn to ensure that it has the best chance of thriving.
