Queens Square update - 26 April 2017

What’s been happening?

This week, new paving is being laid at the connecting points between the alleyways and the west end of Queens Square where paving has already been completed. The southern area of the square is currently being paved following on from the potable water and foul sewer connections.

Queens Square update - 05 April 2017

What’s been happening?

The pedestrian walkway on the southern side of the square (outside Deichmann) is closed this week as the fountain is connected to the potable water main and the overflow pipework to the foul sewer.

Access to all shops and roads around the square remain open, but pedestrians will need to walk around the square to gain access between The Martlets and the The Broadway. This walkway will re-open next week in time for the Easter holidays.

Queens Square update – 21 March 2017

What’s been happening?

Construction continues according to the plans with work on the northern alleyway towards Queens Square well underway. Paving is now being laid directly in front of The Pavilion building. Re-paving is currently underway outside Kokoro and will move north across The Gym, Ann Summers and MET-Rx entrances shortly.

Queens Square update – 23 February 2017

What’s been happening? The hole for the water feature’s plant room has been filled back in and the concrete base of the water fountain has been poured. Drainage and services installation have begun at the western end of the square in front of the pavilion.

Have your say on the next stage of town centre regeneration

Proposals to extend Queens Square regeneration work along Queensway, The Pavement and Kingsgate are available to view and Crawley Borough Council wants to know what you think.

The council and its partners are hoping to continue the high-quality improvements underway in Queens Square along these main connector streets. And, although the design should remain cohesive with the square, the council is keen to hear views on various elements of the project.

What’s been happening? The site closed down over Christmas and New Year to allow the town centre a break from construction activities at this busy time of year.

Queens Square update – 13 December 2016

What’s been happening?

All the granite needed to pave the North and South alleyways has been delivered and work to lay it began on 5 December.

The granite is currently being laid in the southern alleyway and contractors, Blakedown Landscapes Ltd, are working their way through the southern alleyway towards Queens Square.

Queens Square update – 08 November 2016

Welcome to the Queens Square update which aims to answer all your questions during the construction period. We will post new updates every two to four weeks; sooner if there’s important news to share.

What’s been happening?

Work is in full-swing after construction partners, Blakedown Landscapes Ltd, starting on site on Monday 12 September.

You may have noticed diggers at work in recent weeks which are excavating in order to build the plant room for the water feature.

Partial path closure

Part of the southern walkway running alongside the pavilion in Queens Square, in front of Costa, Ted’s Barbers and TSB, will be closed from Monday 14 November for 9 weeks. This is to allow our construction contractors to lay new paving as part of the Queens Square regeneration project. The walkway and access to TSB, Ted’s Barbers and Costa will remain open as usual.
