Green light for next stage of town centre regeneration

Delivery of the Crawley Growth Programme is progressing with another key project given the green light by Crawley Borough Council’s Planning Committee on Monday 29 January.

The plans, which were developed following extensive public consultation earlier this year, will see the high quality improvements recently made in Queens Square extended along Queensway, The Pavement and Kingsgate.

Queensway & The Pavement regeneration plans submitted

Plans to regenerate Queensway, Kingsgate and The Pavement, continuing the high quality improvements in Queens Square, have been submitted.

The proposals, which mark the second phase of town centre regeneration, run from the eastern edge of Queens Square along Queensway to the College Road junction, including part of the boundary to Memorial Gardens, and the length of The Pavement.

The plans, which would significantly improve the three main connector streets and it’s hoped would act as a catalyst for wider regeneration and investment, provide:

Queens Square re-opening party

Queens Square will reopen shortly – and we’re having a party to celebrate!

Everyone’s welcome to join in the fun from 12 noon on Saturday 7 October.

This family-friendly celebratory event will include professional singing, dancing, music from a concert band, street performers, face painting, balloon art and much more.

Metrobus will be bringing its special 70th birthday bus along, Queens Square shops will be getting involved and we’ll be switching on the fountains for the first time since work is completed too!

Next stage of town centre regeneration gets green light

Exciting proposals to extend Queens Square regeneration work along Queensway, The Pavement and Kingsgate have been approved.

Crawley Borough Council’s Cabinet agreed to the design concept at its meeting on Wednesday (22 March).

The council and West Sussex County Council will continue the high-quality improvements underway in Queens Square along these main connector streets.

Design objectives for the £2.2m scheme, which marks the second phase of regeneration, include:

Queens Square update – 23 February 2017

Welcome to the Queens Square update, which aims to answer all your questions during the construction period.

We will post new updates every two to four weeks; sooner if there’s important news to share.

What’s been happening? The hole for the water feature’s plant room has been filled back in and the concrete base of the water fountain has been poured. Drainage and services installation have begun at the western end of the square in front of the pavilion.

The council and its partners are hoping to continue the high-quality improvements underway in Queens Square along these main connector streets. And, although the design should remain cohesive with the square, the council is keen to hear views on various elements of the project.
